ESI Symposium

The ‘ESI symposium’ acts as a showcase for research results from ESI (TNO) projects and the Dutch embedded systems community. Taking place annually, it incorporates keynotes from leading academic and industrial minds, and an extensive demo-market. Highly appreciated for its networking function, the symposium attracts more than 300 people, equally divided between academia and industry.

I am a Complexitect

Intense competition, an ongoing battle for talent, new technologies, shifting business models; the high-tech industry faces many extrinsic challenges. A major challenge however, comes from the inside: how to manage (and make good use of) the ever-increasing complexity?
High-tech companies need to develop professionals that are able to look and think beyond the borders of a discipline, department or even the company itself. As a trusted partner in an open innovation eco-system, ESI supports companies with the development and deployment of strategic knowledge for design and engineering of complex high-tech systems and applications. Moreover, we have a range of activities to accelerate the competence development of talented engineers.

Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

Special interest groups (SIGs) are professional communities defined around specific professional topics. They are mainly populated by industrial engineers from a broad variety of companies, but also some academics participate. Currently we run SIGs on ‘model-based development’ and ‘integration and test’. Read more

In our research projects and related work of our research fellows several scientific publicationsreports and books are published. Results on System Architecting are also published on the Gaudi site.

Domain-Specific Languages (DSLs) are a means to manage complexity using models for specific application domains. Specifications are expressed in terms of key concepts from the application domain, and afterwards transformed into documentation, analysis models, synthesis models and code in various general-purpose languages. TNO-ESI Manuals for Xtext.

Dedicated workshops and colloquia

Dedicated workshops and colloquia are held on a regular basis, and attract both national and international participants. They revolve around dedicated topics of the embedded systems domain, or on the basis of a key research project or knowledge item.
